      2020 Navajo Weaving Classes & Warping Workshops

Students will have the opportunity to learn the art of weaving from Award winning Navajo Weaver; Lynda Teller Pete from Denver, CO. Lynda has taught Navajo Weaving for over 19 years. While instructing and demonstrating, Lynda will share personal stories and experiences, allowing students into her family’s 7 Generations of Navajo weaving. “In my family, we regard weaving as our life’s work; weaving represents our connection to the universe.  Students will learn the traditional method of Navajo weaving. The majority of the class will be spent designing and learning how to weave a 6.5” high X 8.5” wide rug on an upright Navajo Loom.

March Navajo Weaving Class.  3 consecutive days of class
Beginning and Intermediate Navajo Weaving

One day Warping Workshop.  1 day of class

3 days of Navajo Weaving Class Fees: $499.00

One day Warping Workshop $205.00

~ Deposits required ~

$100 deposit on Weaving class, $75 deposit on Warping Workshop, due 2 weeks before each class   ~ (deposits are nonrefundable 7 days before class begins)     

Beginning Students – Pre-Warped 6.5” wide X 8.5” high loom:

Fees are for beginning weaving instructions. The loom will be fully warped and set up. This fee is also for the rental of the loom, tabletop attachment, clamps, female, and male dowels, and preparation of warp and selvage cords and rental of all weaving tools during the scheduled class time. Beginning students will use worsted weight wool, 1 ply.

 Intermediate Students Fees are for advanced weaving instructions and other advanced weaving techniques such as braided selvage cord edge, complex designs and design development.

 

Class fee includes preparation of warp, selvage cords and the use of the following materials:

Wool Warp, Wool Selvage cord, beginning and finishing weaving tools, weaving loom, loom hardware, tabletop attachments and clamps. Pre-warped rugs, weaving tools, and wool available for sale. Classroom looms with tabletop attachments are available in 2 sizes, $110.00 and $160.00

Looms may be purchased from Lynda Teller Pete at event.

 

$100 Non-refundable deposits for weaving class required by 2 weeks before the class starts.

$75 non-refundable deposit for warping class required by 2 weeks before the class starts.

WOOL:

Worsted Weight Wool, one ply – (Advanced Students may use Sport Weight wool). Brown Sheep Company wool will be used in class. Choose a combination of light and dark wool for best visual effects.  3 SKEINS OF BROWN SHEEP YARN ARE PROVIDED.  Additional yarn may be purchased at Spun.  Class participants receive 10% discount.
